There is one important step that turns a bourbon into a Tennessee whiskey: Charcoal Mellowing. In this process, the freshly distilled whiskey seeps drop by drop through a three-meter-thick layer of charcoal from the sugar maple.
The aging process in the barrel is just as special as the filtering of Gentleman Jack. Only Jack Daniel's own barrels made from the best American white oak are used. The inside of the barrel is carefully 'toasted' to caramelize the wood's natural sugars.
After barrel aging, this Tennessee Whiskey goes through Charcoal Mellowing for the second time. This not only gives the Gentleman Jack its unmistakably gentle aroma, it also makes it one thing above all: unique in the world.
