Antique records from the year 1800 mention an (illegal) Duntocher distillery, which may have been a predecessor to the legal Auchentoshan distillery. A license for distillation was obtained in 1823. Auchentoshan distillery is one of only 3 remaining Lowlands distilleries after the whisky market crash that caused a rash of distillery closures in 1983. It is also known as “Glasgow’s Malt Whisky” because it’s located near Glasgow. Also known as “the breakfast whisky” because of its sweet and delicate nature. Auchentoshan means 'Corner of the Field' in Gaelic.
Auchentoshan practices a triple distillation which is a fairly common practice in Ireland, but much less so in Scotland where the majority of distilleries practice a 2x distillation. This makes its whiskies sweet and more delicate, which is unique. The triple distillation method lead Auchentoshan to be a favored whisky among blenders because of its light blendable quality.
Auchentoshan Three Wood is a no-age statement Scotch, which is aged in three different cask types. First in Bourbon barrels, next in Spanish Oloroso Sherry and finally it's moved to Pedro Ximenez Sherry casks. The final maturation gives it extra nuances and a layer of very intriguing flavors, resulting in a dangerously drinkable dram. Suitable as a fantastic surprise at dinner parties? Yes. Suitable as an evening

This is a delicious pleasure of savoring a decadent dessert with cooked fruit, sherry, toffee, and a rum-like flavor, taking you back to a time of indulgence. It pairs perfectly with chocolate-covered liqueur cherries and a mix of ripe dark forest fruits, like a fancy cake.
