Indian Whisky

Amrut - Fusion

4.5

700 ml
  • Picking up Awards since 2009

Amrut Fusion, a peaty twist on the classic Amrut Single Malt, marries 75% Indian barley with 25% peated Scottish barley. The infusion of peat brings a delightful hint of smoke and char, enhancing the overall experience. While the origin of the peated barley remains a mystery, our best guess is the Highlands. With a modest proof increase to 50%, Fusion offers a palatable introduction to peat's diverse flavors, maintaining the rich mouthfeel of the classic Amrut.

Whether you're a peat lover or a newbie, this approachable dram is a must-try at its price point.

Fusion has been picking up awards ever since it first appeared in 2009, and in 2012 was named the best whisky for a coveted Rob Roy in the Ultimate Cocktail Challenge in New York.

Amrut is an Indian single malt whisky brand that since 1948 has gained international acclaim for its exceptional quality and craftsmanship. It is like the Bollywood superstar of the whisky world, breaking all the traditional rules and stealing the spotlight from the Scottish classics.

Born in the bustling streets of Bangalore, India, it's the rebel with a cause, aging in casks while dancing through the crazy, humid Indian weather. Forget kilts and bagpipes; Amrut brings a spicy, tropical party to your taste buds, proving that great whisky can come from unexpected places.

  • Nose

Gentle whispers of peat and smoke, accompanied by a subtle earthiness. The delightful smoke doesn't overpower, allowing notes of orchard fruits and freshly split orchard wood to shine through. A Speyside/Highland-style malt with the signature richness of classic Amrut.

  • Palate

A captivating entrance with earthy black truffle, swiftly followed by an embrace of oak and proof. The peat gracefully settles beneath the tongue, lingering along the sides of the mouth. Dark chocolate and coffee grounds unveil depth on the back palate. Silky mouthfeel, slightly thinner than the classic single malt, presents a peppery front and a crescendo of flavors on the back half of the palate and throat.

  • Finish

Evolving into a darker realm, the finish introduces roasted malt and stout beer vibes. Dutch cocoa powder lingers with a mild peat on a medium-to-long finish.
