Virginia Black American Whiskey

Virginia Black American Whiskey: A Rich and Decadent American Whiskey

Virginia Black American Whiskey is a distinctive American whiskey created as a collaboration between spirits producer Brent Hocking and artist Drake. Crafted from a personally selected blend of two, three and four-year-old bourbons with a rich rye character, it is designed around a smooth, sweet and approachable style. Bottled at 40% ABV, Virginia Black combines traditional American whiskey character with an elegant, art deco-inspired presentation.

The nose is rich and inviting, with sweet aromas of vanilla and caramel alongside dried fruit, particularly raisins and dried figs. On the palate, smooth oak and vanilla are joined by ripe cherry, caramel and hints of caramel-covered popcorn. Subtle baking spices add warmth and complexity, while the finish brings gentle sweet smoke, cinnamon and lingering oak.

Virginia Black is built around a blend of young, high-rye bourbons sourced from Indiana, with the selected whiskies ranging from two to four years old. The use of rye contributes additional spice and structure, while maturation in new charred American oak brings the familiar bourbon characteristics of vanilla, caramel and toasted wood. The resulting whiskey balances its youthful grain character with rich, sweet oak influence.

The combination of ripe fruit, vanilla, caramel and gentle spice gives Virginia Black a rounded and decadent personality. Cherry and dried fruit provide a rich fruity core, while caramel, oak and vanilla create sweetness and depth. Hints of orange peel, dark chocolate, molasses and baking spice have also been noted in independent tastings, adding further layers to its character.

For the best experience, serve Virginia Black neat or over a large ice cube to appreciate its sweet fruit, vanilla and caramel character. It also works well in classic whiskey cocktails where its rich profile can complement ingredients such as bitters, citrus, ginger and sweet vermouth. Its smooth style makes it particularly suitable for relaxed sipping and contemporary whiskey serves.

Virginia Black pairs naturally with grilled beef, barbecue ribs, smoked meats and roasted poultry. Its caramel and vanilla character also complements aged cheeses, roasted nuts and dishes featuring caramelised sauces. For an indulgent after-dinner pairing, enjoy it alongside dark chocolate, caramel desserts, vanilla ice cream or chocolate-covered nuts.

Whether enjoyed neat after dinner in Jumeirah, served over ice during an evening in Dubai Marina or mixed into a whiskey cocktail in Downtown Dubai, Virginia Black American Whiskey brings a rich and contemporary American character to the glass. It is equally suited to gatherings in Palm Jumeirah, Yas Island, Saadiyat Island and Al Maryah Island in Abu Dhabi, offering a smooth and decadent whiskey for celebrations, cocktail evenings and relaxed entertaining.
