Tidal Rum: A Distinctive Caribbean Rum with a Coastal Twist

Tidal Rum is a distinctive golden aged rum blend that begins its journey in the Caribbean before being finished on the island of Jersey. Crafted from four aged rums from Jamaica, Barbados, Trinidad and the Dominican Republic, the blend is matured in ex-bourbon white oak casks for two to three years before being infused with oak-smoked Pepper Dulse, a rare marine botanical sustainably foraged from Jersey's shores. Bottled at 40% ABV, Tidal Rum combines rich Caribbean rum character with a subtle coastal influence for a smooth and unusually complex drinking experience.

On the nose, Tidal Rum opens with warming salted caramel, cinnamon bark and gentle oak, followed by layers of burnt sugar, coffee and bright citrus. The palate develops a rich combination of caramel and toffee sweetness with bitter orange, roasted coffee, vegetal oak and warming spice. The oak-smoked Pepper Dulse introduces an intriguing earthy, peppery and subtly marine character, adding a whisper of sea salt without overpowering the underlying rum. The finish is long and rich, with caramel and citrus gradually giving way to deep truffle-like, smoky and coastal notes.

The foundation of Tidal Rum is a carefully selected blend of four Caribbean rums from Jamaica, Barbados, Trinidad and the Dominican Republic. Each component is aged in ex-bourbon white oak casks for between two and three years before being blended and brought to Jersey. There, the rum is infused with Pepper Dulse, a sea botanical known for its intense truffle-like flavour and naturally peppery, earthy character. The Pepper Dulse is sustainably harvested from Jersey's tidal coastline and oak smoked before being used in the rum.

This unusual combination gives Tidal Rum its signature identity. The sweetness of caramel, brown sugar and toffee is balanced by oak, bitter orange, coffee and subtle spice, while the Pepper Dulse contributes savoury, earthy and lightly salty nuances. Rather than masking the rum, the marine botanical is designed to add another layer of complexity, creating a spirit that bridges traditional Caribbean rum with the character of Jersey's coastline.
