Thierry Allemand Cornas Chaillot 2016 is made from 100% Syrah, the signature red grape of Cornas. The Chaillot vines are relatively young, generally under 40 years old, and are planted on more clay-influenced soils within the steep Cornas landscape. The fruit is harvested by hand and undergoes a long, gentle maceration with careful foot pigeage. The wine is then matured for approximately 24 months in older oak barrels before a further period in large foudres, allowing the wine to develop complexity while preserving the purity of the fruit.

The 2016 vintage is already showing impressive development but retains considerable ageing potential. Vinous described the wine as pure, focused and energetic, with floral and mineral characteristics driving an exceptionally long finish. More recent tasting notes reveal additional savoury dimensions including black olive, brine, earth, crushed rock and grilled-meat nuances, while the tannic structure remains firm and youthful. Serve Thierry Allemand Cornas Chaillot 2016 at approximately 16 to 18°C. Open the bottle at least one hour before serving and gently allow it to breathe. For a mature bottle, avoid excessive agitation during decanting and handle it carefully if sediment is present.
