  • Scotland and the Caribbean in one Bottle

The Balvenie Distillery is situated just up the road from Glenfiddich on the north side of Dufftown — right in the middle of Speyside. The distillery was build by William Grant in 1892, after previously building the Glenfiddich distillery back in 1886.

William Grant was a cattle herder before he started working as a bookkeeper for the Mortlach Distillery, where he found love for whisky. After 20 years of studying, he bought a field next to Balvenie Castle and embarked on his own unique whisky adventure.

The malt produced by the Balvenie distillery have a fantastic Speyside character that captures both the region and the heart of the distillery itself. Balvenie is still one of a handful of distilleries in Scotland to grow its own barley and use traditional floor maltings.

The Balvenie Caribbean Cask was initially aged in traditional oak casks before it was finished in casks which previously held Caribbean rum, imparting some extra sweetness and warmth to the whisky.

A well-rounded whisky, expect vanilla and toffee notes as the rum contributes extra sweetness to the flavours.
