  • Hear the sea off Goa tell its own stories

Hailing from the tropical shores of Goa, along the west coast of India, comes the Paul John single malts, a golden spirit of brilliance, from John Distilleries.

Established in 1996, John Distilleries grew out to be one of the 3 largest spirit companies in India within less than a decade. Driven by the zest to break conventions, Paul P John, set out to penetrate the highest strata of the world of whisky to create a niche of his own, with the Paul John Indian Single Malts.

From the sultry coasts of Goa, the Paul John Indian Single Malts are made from carefully chosen indigenous ingredients - barley, water and yeast - that together create a radiance of a different kind. Goa's tropical clime offers the ideal temperature and ambience for the whisky to mature to perfection. A culmination of the graceful union of art with science, the Paul John Indian Single Malts are made from a vigilantly watched process from the mashing of grains, fermentation, distillation, maturation, vatting and finally bottling. Paul John Indian Single Malt is non-chilled filtered and there are no additives.

Most Indian Whisky is comprised out of molasses and not different grains. Paul John uses 100% 6-row Indian-grown barley and American oak casks to produce a Single Malt that can go head to head with their Scottish counterparts.

The Indian barley used in the production comes from the foothills of Himalaya and is different to the European one because it yields less alcohol but gives out a higher flavor profile. The maturation itself happens in a tropical climate that is very harsh on the Angel share, over 8-10% evaporates each year. That is why Indian Whisky matures quite a lot faster than Scotch.

The Paul John Edited is an Indian semi-peated single malt whisky created by Master Distiller Michael John using Indian 6-row barley as well as peated Scottish barley.

It combines their fruity unpeated single malt whisky with some 15% peated spirit with maturation taking place in bourbon casks to give a sweet and spicy whisky balanced by an underlying earthy smoke.

    Edited is for the extraordinary!

  • Palate

The grassy flavours of barley show up first, but gently make way for subtle peat notes. They slowly dissolve and pave the way for a rush of mint and mocha.

  • Finish

The finish is long and drawn out. You can sense a hint of spice and chocolate mint as it ends on gentle peat notes.
