Montes Alpha Cabernet Sauvignon is a distinguished Chilean red wine from the Colchagua Valley, one of Chile's renowned wine-producing regions. As one of Viña Montes' signature wines, it helped establish the winery's reputation for premium Chilean wines and continues to express the region's ability to produce powerful yet polished Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine combines ripe fruit character with French oak influence, creating a rich, structured and approachable style.

On the nose, Montes Alpha Cabernet Sauvignon offers an expressive combination of ripe black fruits, particularly figs and blackberries, with concentrated crème de cassis. Cayenne pepper and other spice notes add lift, while deeper aromas of dark chocolate, leather and tobacco contribute complexity. On the palate, the wine is silky and generous, with perfectly rounded tannins supporting an impressive burst of ripe fruit through the mid-palate.

The Cabernet Sauvignon comes from the Colchagua Valley and is matured for 12 months in French oak barrels, with 50% of the wine aged in first-use French oak according to the producer's current specifications. This careful oak maturation integrates subtle vanilla, spice and toasted characteristics into the wine while complementing rather than overpowering its ripe fruit profile.

Montes Alpha balances the natural intensity of Cabernet Sauvignon with a polished texture and well-integrated tannins. Dark berries and cassis form the core of the wine, while chocolate, tobacco, leather and pepper bring additional depth. The French oak contributes another layer of warmth and complexity, resulting in a Cabernet that is both expressive in its youth and capable of developing further in the cellar. The producer recommends enjoying it now or cellaring it for up to 10 years.

Serve Montes Alpha Cabernet Sauvignon at around 17 to 19°C to allow its fruit, spice and oak aromas to fully develop. Decanting for at least 30 minutes is recommended, particularly when serving a younger bottle, as this can help open the wine and soften its structured character.
