Marchesi Antinori Tignanello Toscana IGT 2022 is one of Tuscany’s most iconic wines, produced from the historic Tignanello vineyard in the heart of Chianti Classico. A pioneering Super Tuscan, Tignanello combines predominantly Sangiovese with Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, creating a distinctive expression that brings together the character of traditional Tuscan Sangiovese with the structure of Bordeaux varieties. The wine comes exclusively from the Tignanello vineyard, planted on calcareous, limestone-rich soils at elevations of approximately 350 to 400 metres.

The 2022 vintage displays an intense ruby-red colour with attractive purple hues. Its aromatic profile is expressive and layered, opening with cherries, ripe black cherries and pomegranate, followed by delicate violet notes and fresh balsamic nuances. Elegant hints of vanilla and cotton candy add further aromatic complexity. On the palate, supple and savoury tannins create a dynamic balance between density and freshness, leading to a long, persistent finish that echoes the fruit and floral aromas found on the nose.

Tignanello 2022 benefits from meticulous winemaking and extended maturation. After fermentation and careful skin maceration, the wine underwent malolactic fermentation in small oak barrels before aging predominantly in French oak, with a small proportion of Hungarian oak, for just over 13 months. Following blending and the completion of barrel aging, the wine spent an additional 12 months in bottle before release, helping develop its depth, polish and aromatic complexity.

Serve at around 16 to 18°C to allow the wine's fruit, floral aromas, savoury tannins and oak-derived complexity to fully express themselves. For a young vintage such as 2022, gentle decanting can help open the wine and soften its youthful structure, while careful cellaring will allow its depth and complexity to evolve further.
