Man Merlot is an approachable yet refined red wine from South Africa's Coastal Region, crafted by MAN Family Wines with a focus on expressive fruit, smooth texture and excellent everyday drinkability. Known for producing wines that combine quality with an accessible style, MAN brings together ripe Merlot fruit with a touch of Cabernet Sauvignon to provide additional structure and depth. The result is a medium-bodied red that balances generous fruit character with soft tannins and a polished finish.

The wine opens with inviting aromas of ripe plum and dark berries, accompanied by subtle notes of cherry, tobacco and gentle smoky nuances. On the palate, juicy berry and plum flavours are complemented by dark chocolate, with soft acidity and finely integrated tannins creating a smooth and rounded texture. Earthy and lightly savoury undertones add complexity, while the lingering finish maintains the wine's fruit-forward character without becoming overly heavy.

This made predominantly from Merlot, with 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Sauvignon in the current expression. The Cabernet Sauvignon contributes additional weight and structure, allowing the softer, fruit-driven qualities of Merlot to remain at the forefront. The grapes are hand harvested, fermented in stainless steel tanks and undergo malolactic fermentation before most of the wine is matured in American oak for approximately nine months.

Its medium-bodied character makes Man Merlot particularly versatile. The combination of ripe plum, dark cherry, chocolate and subtle tobacco creates a satisfying wine that can be enjoyed on its own or alongside a meal. The gentle tannins and balanced acidity make it accessible without sacrificing the structure expected from a well-crafted South African red.

For the best experience, serve Man Merlot slightly chilled at approximately 13 to 15°C. It can be enjoyed soon after opening, although giving it a little time in the glass allows the plum, cherry, chocolate and savoury notes to become more expressive. Its approachable style also makes it well suited to casual dinners and relaxed gatherings.
