  • The Apex of Trappist Mastery

La Trappe Quadrupel stands as the strongest among La Trappe Trappist ales, known for its full, warming, and intensive taste. This dark, amber-colored ale combines malty sweetness with the rich tones of date and caramel, marked by a slightly sweet yet pleasantly bitter finish. Its complexity and depth are enhanced further when aged in oak barrels, adding a special woody scent comparable to wood-aged red wine, making it a unique offering from La Trappe.

La Trappe Quadrupel is meticulously brewed and then sorted by year in the cellars of the abbey for further fermentation. Since 2008, the Quadrupel is also aged in oak barrels, a process that bestows upon the beer an even fuller taste. This oak-aged variant is available in limited quantities, reflecting a dedication to crafting beers that can be savored and appreciated like a fine wine.

The Koningshoeven Brewery, nestled within the walls of Onze Lieve Vrouw van Koningshoeven Abbey in the Netherlands, is renowned for its Trappist beers. Established in 1884, it's one of the few breweries in the world authorized to use the 'Authentic Trappist Product' logo. La Trappe beers, including the Quadrupel, are brewed under the supervision of the monastery’s monks, ensuring they adhere to traditional Trappist brewing practices.

This robust ale pairs well with hearty dishes such as Christmas pudding and venison, thanks to its full-bodied richness and complex flavor profile. The sweetness and bitterness of the Quadrupel complement rich, flavorful dishes, enhancing the dining experience.
