La Trappe Isid'or (6-pack)

No rating
330 ml
  • Named for the Abbey's Founder, This Trappist Ale Melds Sweet Caramel with Fruit and a Hint of Bitterness

La Trappe Isid'or is a distinguished amber-colored ale with a broken white head.

It boasts a harmonious blend of herbal, floral, and fruity aromas, offering a perfect balance between complexity and simplicity. With an ABV of 7.5% and an IBU of 44, Isid'or provides a lightly sweet taste with hints of caramel, maintaining a Trappist integrity of brewing within monastery walls under monk supervision.

Crafted in 2009 to commemorate the 125th anniversary of the brewery, this beer was named after Brother Isidorus, the monastery's first brewmaster.

Like other La Trappe beers, Isid'or undergoes top-fermentation with a specific yeast strain most active at temperatures between 18°C to 20°C. The ale continues to ferment after bottling, allowing its flavor and aroma to mature over time. This process ensures the authenticity and depth of the Trappist ale's unique aroma.

La Trappe is brewed within the walls of Onze Lieve Vrouw van Koningshoeven Abbey, the only Trappist brewery in the Netherlands. Founded in 1884, it follows the strict Trappist brewing traditions while supporting charitable causes, reflecting in their motto "Taste the silence." The brewery prides itself on creating ales that are pure, honest, and reflective of their monastic heritage.

This Trappist beer's full-bodied flavor with slight bitterness and fruity finish makes it an excellent companion to a variety of dishes. It can enhance the flavors of hearty meals, cheeses, and even some desserts.
