Highland Park is the most northerly distillery in Scotland on the Orkney Islands. Legend has it that it was founded by Whisky smuggler Magnus Eunson in the late 1700s and that he used his position as a church officer to conceal Whisky beneath the church pulpit. Don’t assume that “Highland Park” means their Whisky is made in the Highland style. In character, their spirit is closer to a midpoint between Lowland and Islay Single Malts. Perhaps the most famous Whisky connoisseur of all time — journalist Michael Jackson — called Highland Park, “The greatest all-rounder in the world of Malt Whisky.”
Highland Park 12 Year Old remains one of the gold-standard malts for other distillery bottlings to aspire to. With a sub-name like Viking Honour, you can expect a lot from this Orcadian single malt Scotch whisky – and it delivers! It has won more than thirty medals and competition honors.
A great introduction to Highland Park's famed heathery peat smoke, the 12 Year Old is matured predominantly in sherry-seasoned European and American oak casks, so it's spicy, citrusy, and full of smoky aromatics.

Nose
Fresh, clean and very aromatic. Floral notes abound the senses with a light grassiness. Notes of creamy manuka honey and a touch of juicy citrus with cream and a well-balanced sweetness.
Palate
Rather full with a pleasant subtlety to the depths. Lurking somewhere in the substratum a grilled orange lies. Notes of granary toast and green tea with jasmine. A touch of sweetness.
Finish
Quite long with peppered spicy and wood shavings.

The nose offers a fresh burst of floral aromas, complemented by a subtle grassy undertone. With each sip, I discovered more layers of flavor, from creamy honey to zesty citrus, leaving me craving for more of this truly remarkable experience.
