“Guidalberto 2020 is a blend of 50% Merlot and 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, matured for 15 months in oak (20% new), including a small percentage of American oak. The aromas are a little heavier, with ripe dark fruit and a fragrant, floral note. It's a little less finely detailed aromatically than the 2021, with some smoke, spice and green herb qualities. The palate is round, medium-full bodied with juicy, bright acidity. It's a very friendly wine with very fine tannins and there's a little more grip and silty texture to the tannins.” - Decanter 95

About The Winery

Tenuta San Guido is owned by the Incisa della Rocchetta family. The estate’s modern identity is inseparable from Mario Incisa della Rocchetta, who initiated the historic Cabernet plantings in Bolgheri and laid the foundations for Sassicaia. Over time, Tenuta San Guido became one of the most influential estates in Italy, closely associated with the emergence of Bolgheri as a world-class wine region.

Today, the estate is managed by the next generation of the Incisa della Rocchetta family, ensuring continuity of vision and long-term stewardship, while maintaining the stylistic and technical principles that define Tenuta San Guido.

The vineyards of Tenuta San Guido are located in Bolgheri, on the Tuscan coast, within close proximity to the Tyrrhenian Sea, whose maritime influence moderates temperatures and supports steady ripening. The estate comprises approximately 90 hectares of vineyards, planted on gently undulating terrain at elevations generally ranging from 100 to 300 m a.s.l.

Vinification

Vinification at Tenuta San Guido is based on separate parcel vinification, allowing each component to develop individually before blending. Fermentation and maceration are adapted to variety and vintage, with the goal of preserving aromatic precision and structural balance. Oak is used to support structure and longevity rather than dominate the fruit, resulting in wines known for balance, elegance and long ageing potential.

On the nose, Guidalberto reveals expressive aromas of blackcurrant, blackberry, and ripe plum, layered with notes of cedar, tobacco, spice, and subtle Mediterranean herbs. The palate is smooth, rich, and beautifully balanced, offering flavors of dark fruits, gentle minerality, and well-integrated oak supported by polished tannins and lively acidity. The finish is long, elegant, and persistent, leaving lingering impressions of fruit and spice.
