About The Winery

Château Nénin has been owned by the Delon family since 1997. The family is well established in Bordeaux and is best known for its stewardship of Château Léoville Las Cases, a Deuxième Grand Cru Classé in Saint-Julien, considered one of the leading estates of the Médoc. In addition to Léoville Las Cases, the Delon family also owns Clos du Marquis in Saint-Julien and Château Potensac in Médoc.

Under the direction of Jean-Hubert Delon, Château Nénin has benefited from significant investment in both vineyards and cellar facilities, reinforcing its position among the serious, terroir-driven producers of Pomerol.

Château Nénin’s 32-hectare vineyard is planted with 78% Merlot, 21% Cabernet Franc and 1% Cabernet Sauvignon, reflecting a shift away from earlier plantings that once included up to 20% Cabernet Sauvignon. The soils combine gravel, clay and sand, with iron-rich elements contributing structure. The estate’s best parcels comprise 14 hectares on the Pomerol plateau, with clay-dominant soils on gentle slopes reaching 33 m a.s.l.

The vineyard is divided into 40 parcels, with an average vine age of around 30 years, including some vines over 50 years old. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless-steel vats (70–160 hl), followed by ageing of approximately 18 months in oak, with around 30% new barrels, adjusted by vintage.

On the nose, Fugue de Nénin reveals inviting aromas of ripe plum, black cherry, and blackberry, layered with notes of violet, cocoa, and gentle spice. The palate is smooth, rich, and beautifully balanced, offering flavors of dark fruits, soft tannins, and subtle earthy undertones supported by fresh acidity. The finish is long, velvety, and elegant, leaving lingering impressions of fruit and spice.
