Abou The Winery

Château de Beaucastel is located in the northern part of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation in the Southern Rhône Valley, near the village of Courthézon. The estate traces its origins to 1549, when Pierre de Beaucastel purchased land in the area known as Coudoulet. In 1909, the property was acquired by Pierre Tramier, who entrusted its management to his son-in-law Pierre Perrin. The estate has remained in the Perrin family for five generations, with each generation contributing to the development of the vineyard and cellar. Today Château de Beaucastel forms part of Famille Perrin, run by the Perrin family, who continue to manage the estate and its vineyards.

Château de Beaucastel has long followed environmentally focused vineyard practices: the estate adopted organic farming in the 1950s and later moved to biodynamic viticulture in 1974, becoming one of the early pioneers of these methods in the region.

Vinification

In the cellar, each grape variety is vinified separately before blending. Fermentation takes place in different vessels depending on the variety: wooden truncated cone vats are used for reductive varieties such as Syrah and Mourvèdre, while traditional concrete and enamelled stoneware tanks are used for the others. After malolactic fermentation, the Perrin family carries out the blending, and the wine is then aged for about one year in large oak foudres, which bring harmony and depth to the final wine.

On the nose, the 2019 vintage reveals complex aromas of blackberry, black cherry, and plum layered with notes of garrigue, cracked pepper, leather, and subtle spice. The palate is full-bodied and powerful, offering rich dark fruit flavors balanced by firm yet refined tannins, earthy undertones, and vibrant freshness. The finish is long, structured, and elegant, leaving lingering impressions of spice, herbs, and mineral depth.
