About The Winery

Azienda Agricola Brovia is a historic family-run estate in Castiglione Falletto, nestled in the heart of the Barolo district in Piedmont, Italy. The winery was founded in 1863 by Giacinto Brovia and has remained deeply rooted in the region’s winemaking tradition ever since. After a period of interruption during the early 20th century, Giacinto’s grandsons — also named Giacinto and Raffaele — revived the estate in 1953, blending technical expertise in both vineyard and cellar work. Today the fourth generation, led by Elena Brovia alongside her husband Alex Sánchez and her sister Cristina, carries on this legacy with a focus on terroir-driven wines and stewardship of the family’s vineyards.

In the cellar Brovia blends tradition with a restrained, terroir-first approach. Grapes are gently crushed and fermented with careful temperature control, while Nebbiolo macerations can extend for several weeks. Aging is carried out in large Slavonian and French oak casks — especially for Barolo — and the wines are often bottled without filtration to preserve purity and complexity. After cask aging, many wines also see additional bottle maturation before release. This traditional and low-intervention style seeks to express the soul of each vineyard rather than impose stylistic trends. 

On the nose, Sori Drago reveals expressive aromas of ripe cherry, blackberry, and plum, layered with hints of violet, spice, and subtle oak influence. The palate is lively and well-structured, offering flavors of red berries, dark fruit, and gentle spice, supported by fresh acidity and soft tannins.
