Bandida Cristal

Bandida Cristal : A Refined and Smooth Oaxacan Mezcal

Bandida Cristal is an ultra-premium artisanal mezcal crafted from Espadín agaves matured for nine years in Santiago Matatlán, Oaxaca, one of Mexico's most renowned mezcal-producing regions. Produced as a single-estate mezcal by Bandida's fourth-generation Maestro Mezcalero, Cristal is designed to showcase the natural character of mature agave with remarkable smoothness and balance. Bottled at 40% ABV, this expression is equally suited to sipping neat or creating refined premium cocktails.

On the nose, Bandida Cristal is clean and crisp, revealing roasted agave, subtle citrus zest and delicate mineral-earth aromas. The palate is exceptionally smooth and bright, with sweet cooked agave, light floral honey and a touch of white pepper. Refined smoke and flinty nuances add depth without overpowering the agave, while the finish remains delicate and balanced, leaving gentle sweetness, mineral character and a restrained smoky impression.

Bandida Cristal is crafted entirely by hand using traditional mezcal-making techniques. The mature agaves are cooked in volcanic stone ovens, fermented naturally using wild microbes and crushed with a traditional tahona. Bandida's production is organic and free from additives and sweeteners, allowing the natural character of the agave and the distinctive terroir of Santiago Matatlán to remain at the centre of the spirit.

The nine-year maturation of the Espadín agave contributes to the depth and complexity of Bandida Cristal. Roasted agave sweetness sits alongside floral, citrus, mineral and peppery notes, while its gentle smoky character reflects the traditional volcanic-stone cooking process. Unlike heavily smoky expressions, Cristal aims for a more refined and elegant balance, making it approachable for both experienced mezcal enthusiasts and those discovering artisanal mezcal.

Bandida Cristal is best enjoyed neat at room temperature or with a small amount of water to allow its layered aromas and flavours to develop naturally. Its smooth 40% ABV profile also makes it an excellent choice for premium cocktails where the agave and delicate smoky character can remain prominent. It can be used in modern mezcal cocktails or in classics such as a Mezcal Old Fashioned, where its roasted agave, mineral and pepper notes pair naturally with bitters and citrus.

For food pairing, Bandida Cristal works beautifully with grilled prawns, ceviche, oysters, sushi and other fresh seafood. Its roasted agave and gentle smoke also complement grilled chicken, pork, tacos, roasted vegetables and dishes featuring chilli and citrus. For a richer pairing, enjoy it alongside aged cheeses, dark chocolate or desserts featuring caramel and roasted flavours.

Whether enjoyed neat after dinner in Jumeirah, served as the base of a sophisticated cocktail in Dubai Marina, or shared during an evening in Downtown Dubai, Bandida Cristal brings the artisanal character of Oaxaca to the glass. It is equally suited to gatherings around Palm Jumeirah, Yas Island and Saadiyat Island, or refined celebrations across Al Maryah Island and Al Reem Island in Abu Dhabi.
