Scotch Whisky

Auchentoshan 18 Year Old

No rating
700 ml
  • The Breakfast Whisky

Antique records from the year 1800 mention an (illegal) Duntocher distillery, which may have been a predecessor to the legal Auchentoshan distillery. A license for distillation was obtained in 1823. Auchentoshan distillery is one of only 3 remaining Lowlands distilleries after the whisky market crash that caused a rash of distillery closures in 1983. It is also known as “Glasgow’s Malt Whisky” because it’s located near Glasgow. Also known as “the breakfast whisky” because of its sweet and delicate nature. Auchentoshan means 'Corner of the Field' in Gaelic.

Auchentoshan practices a triple distillation which is a fairly common practice in Ireland, but much less so in Scotland where the majority of distilleries practice a 2x distillation. This makes its whiskies sweet and more delicate, which is unique. The triple distillation method lead Auchentoshan to be a favored whisky among blenders because of its light blendable quality.

Auchentoshan 18 years old is one of their most renowned and characterized Spirits from their core range. It is of course triple distilled and matured in American Bourbon casks for over 18 years, which have imparted some fruit, nut and barley flavors. This right here is definitely an Auchentoshan for all of you who know and love the brand. It is filled with history, tradition and artisanship — and everything else we love about this Lowlands favorite. You’ll notice a significant upgrade in terms of character and delicacy in comparison to the Classic and 12 years old expressions.

For a distillery that prides itself in making the smoothest Whisky possible — this is as smooth as they come.
